Sonam Kapoor joins hands with Cuddles Foundation

Pledges to spread awareness about importance of nutrition in children fighting Cancer
Cuddles Foundation, India’s only NGO that helps meet the nutritional needs of thousands of underprivileged children afflicted with cancer every year, today organised the     4th edition of MEHER, its annual fundraiser event at Taj Lands End, Bandra. As the name signifies, MEHER is a celebration of kindness, love and encouragement towards the initiative, an opportunity to create awareness about the importance of nutrition in child cancer treatment. Extending unconditional support to the cause was the stunning actress Sonam Kapoor, our Goodwill Ambassador and Mrs. Neerja Birla, our chief guest for the evening. Actress Tara Sharma and Actor Purab Kohli, both young parents and great believers of the cause were our gracious hosts for the evening.
MEHER is a tastefully curated evening with soulful music, art and people who understand and support the cause. This year the evening witnessed a beautiful display of art by various artists, along with a contemporary take on traditional, Punjabi folk songs blending into ambient electronica by the magical duo Hari Singh and Sukhmani Malik.

Lending her support to the cause Sonam Kapoor said: “Things we get easily we always take for granted, whether it is our body or the food we eat. When I learnt about the work Cuddles Foundation is doing, it made me realise what role does nutrition play during cancer treatment. Little children suffering from cancer find it even more difficult to fight the disease when their bodies don’t have the strength because of lack of nutrition. I would like to do my best to spread awareness and support Cuddles Foundation in its work and would also urge people to show their concern towards these little fighters”.

Cuddles Foundation aims to bring holistic, nutritional intervention apart from running various nutrition-related programmes all year round. “I started Cuddles as a small, personal initiative. Soon it grew into something much bigger than I had imagined as the cause resonated with the society. Cuddles works with the biggest government funded hospitals in India. Along with the help of doctors and nutritionists we provide nutrition- supplementation as well as meals to the children. We provide nutritionists to the hospitals who administer nutrition as well as guide the parents on making healthier choices for the child as the family. At Meher, I get the opportunity to personally thank few of our supporters who believe in us and the cause and help create more awareness”, said Purnota Dutta Bahl, Founder of Cuddles Foundation.
