National Award winning Director Gautam Ghose & Bengali Superstar, Actor Prosenjit, hosted the Premiere of National Award winning Bengali film 'SANKACHIL', a partition drama based film in Mumbai.
Director Gautam Ghose has almost acquired a cult status, and most lovers of good cinema in Bollywood were in attendance for the premiere in Mumbai. Superstar Shatrugan Sinha was simply moved by the film and was very expansive in praising the film to the huge turnout of the media present there. He especially spoke very highly about director Gautam Ghose and the stupendous acting of Bengali Superstar Prosenjit. He felt that films like this should be made in every language and in every state. The film was just beyond boundaries.
The other celebrities who were present there were Madhur Bhandarkar, Govind Nihalani, Director Srijit Mukherjee (Director of ‘Rajkahini’ and the remake in Bollywood with Vidya Balan for Mahesh Bhatt’s production company), Tara Alisha Berry, Pradeep Guha, Singer Abhijit Bhatttacharya, Anjum Rizvi, Director Manish Gupta, Shoumik Sen (Gulab Gang), IFTDA - film director members Ashok Pandit, Balle Grover, Ashwini Chowdhary, Sunil Bohra etc.
Partition has always been a traumatic and the biggest tragedy for both the countries India & Bangladesh and chronicles the most tumultuous times in the history, which brought pain, tragedy and loss. What’s broken is broken, and National Award winning Director Gautam Ghose film ‘"Sankhachil” reflects the same in this partition themed film, jointly produced by India & Bangladesh. “Sankhachil,” shot on either sides of the border, is Ghosh’s third Indo-Bangla production.
"Sankhachil" which recently won the National Award, portrays the angst of the people living near the Indo-Bangladesh border, starring Bengali superstar Prosenjit and Bangladeshi actress Kusum. Gautam Ghose has always been inspired by Ritwik Ghatak, whose partition themed films have left a mark on him. He believes that partition always brought forth the raw wounds on the psyche of affected people, on either side of the border.
