Paithani brand ambessador Sonali Bendre goes out of her way for weavers

Sonali Bendre apart from being a Maharashtrian, is also a lover of traditional weaves and was recently announced as the face to pioneer the revival of Paithani sarees.

Paithani uses the ancient technique of tapestry where multiple threads of different colours along with gold and silver threads are weaved together to form a fascinating piece of silk. It's made from natural silk or cotton with precious gold and silver metal threads that gives Paithani the Midas touch.

Since the skill is a dying art form in the country, the former actress turned author is going out of her way to promote the weavers’ works and is speaking to several sponsors and organizers to put together an exhibition that showcases their collection.

Says a source, " Sonali wanted to conduct a special exhibition, giving these weavers from remote corners a chance to talk, showcase and sell their work. She is speaking to a few organizers and sponsors to come on board for the project and hopes to pull off a show that will revive this dying artform".
