It’s not just another war drama! It’s a movie based on
true story during the German invasion of Poland thus marking the beginning of

The Zookeeper’s Wife. Releasing on 7th April the film is an adaptation of
an international best seller of the same name by Diane Ackerman. Directed by
Niki Caro and written by Angela Workman. The film features Academy Award
nominee Jessica Chastain as the protagonist Antonina Zabinski along with Johan
Heldenbergh, Michael McElhatton and Daniel Bruhl.
Synopsis:
Set
in late 1930’s, The Zookeeper’s Wife takes the viewers on an emotion filled
journey of Antonina Zabinski, while she struggles to save lives of 300 Jews
from the wrath of Nazis during German invasion of Poland. Antonina and her
husband Jan Zabinski became active with the Polish underground resistance and
secretly sheltered Jews, escaping the doomed Warsaw Ghetto, in the Zoo which
once contained animals but had been shut down during the German occupation.
With the assistance of Zabinskis and other members of underground, many Jews
survived the war.
