Celebrated designer, Sanjay Garg, launched the first Raw Mango Flagship store in Mumbai amongst friends and patrons of the brand at a musical evening today, that featured traditional Rajashtani folk music fused with eclectic jazz rhythms. This is the brand’s second stand-alone boutique in the country, after Delhi.
The evening saw the brand’s well-wishers from Mumbai, across Bollywood, fashion, art and design come together, to raise a toast to Sanjay on this milestone for Raw Mango. Among those who attended the event and were seen admiring the space and the stunning collections from the brand over cocktails and canapés, were, Deepti Naval, Sonam Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Soha Ali Khan, Kiran Rao, Mini Mathur, Avantika Malik Khan, Nitya Mehra, Suket Dhir, Masaba Gupta, Nachiket Barve, Nishka Lulla, Nimish Shah, Divya Thakur, Maithili and Jamini Ahluwalia, Sangita Kathiwada, Gaurav and Pratima Bhatia, Ratna Krishnakumar, Prerna Malhotra, Roohi Jaikishan, Gayatri Rangachari-Shah, Tarini Jindal, Sharmilla Khanna, Vikram Raizada, Sabina Singh, Aasthi Bhartia, Jaya Jaitly and Neerja Shah, amongst others.
Just steps away from the waterfront and The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the sprawling 2,500 sq ft store, envisioned and brought to life by Sanjay Garg himself, in collaboration with interior architect Ashiesh Shah and designer Isla Maria ‘Loulou’ van Damme, has contemporary, minimalist interiors and the design of the space seamlessly integrates with the natural architecture of the iconic building that it is located in. The space invokes a feeling of calm and purity, embodying the ‘bare necessities’ philosophy of Raw Mango.
Talking about his new flagship store in Mumbai, Sanjay Garg says, “my first Raw Mango exhibition was in Mumbai and I sold my first sari in this city and the launch of this store is coming full circle for me. I am fortunate that some of my earliest clients still live in this city. They truly understand the ethos of our brand and are great supporters of Indian of textile and design.”
Raw Mango’s new Mumbai store offers patrons a wide selection of handloom saris, lehengas, jackets and dresses and includes ‘Monkey Business’, Raw Mango’s latest collection. This is the only Raw Mango location to also sell men's bandis and handloom handkerchiefs.
