Upen Patel’s debut Tamil movie I, directed by Shankar released at the beginning of this year went on to become a huge money spinner at the box office thereby making Rs 200 crores worldwide.
Following the movie success and Upen’s immense popularity down south, it’s learnt that another successful director from South has been trying to rope in the suave actor for his next south movie.
The supermodel-turned-actor has been approached by his filmmaker friends to rustle up the suave and new-age bad man on screen. If sources are to be believed, the south filmmaker Veera Bhadra is keen to rope in Upen for his untitled Telugu flick starring Aadi.
A source says, “Upen, who is riding high on the success of his South ventures is in the process of reinventing himself in B town. His inherent style and popularity with the youth has been working wonders for his career.
“Upen has been talking to his friends and associates about his passion for resurrecting the bad man image on screen already caught the attention of the big wigs of the industry,” the source adds.
“My mean act in I was appreciated and it has opened up a whole new avenue for me. Negative characters, if written and portrayed well, can bring out a spectrum of human frailties. As they say, ‘Bad is the new good’,” Upen says.
