Mahima, Riya, Mumtaz thrilled with Dark Chocolate

The three laies Mahima Chaudhury, Riya Sen and Mumtaz Sorcar in director Agnidev Chatterjee's bi-lingual movie Dark Chocolate are both thrilled and deeply satisfied at the way they have been able to portray the characters in the movie.

The movie releases in Bengali here and in hindi pan-India. Dark Chocolate is a fictional take on the infamous Sheena Bora murder case in which Indrani Mukerjea along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Pinturam Rai allegedly abducted and killed the 25-year-old.

“The case is only an inspiration and the film will fictionalize the entire narrative. It's not a biopic. This is the first movie to be made on this unnatural case where a mother is suspected of killing her own daughter,“ said Agnidev Chatterjee.
Mahima Chaudhury on her portraying of the fictional counterpart of Indrani said: I am thrilled to be part of a Bengali film for the first time.I play the role of Ishani Banerjee -a character inspired by Indrani Mukerjea. Essaying the character was exhausting. Is it possible that a mother kills her own child? This kept haunting me. I had to switch on and off my onscreen personality through the duration of the shoot"

Working on this film turned out to be quite an experience for me. I was told that the character was inspired by the deceased Sheena Bora. I had never seen her in person and the details about her were scarce. So I'm not sure whether I actually represented who she was as a person. I followed the director's brief," said Riya Sen.

Mumtaz Sorcar, who is working with Agnidev for the first time was thankful that the director thought ofher while casting Payel, a rough-and-tough cop. "Payel is a go-getter. She knows that the case she's handling is tough. But she's hell-bent on her mission to find the truth. For the film, I learnt colloquial jargon as Payel is a glib mouthed girl who speaks her mind," said Mumtaz.

Dark Chocolate, produced by Macneill Engineering Ltd and presented by Pradip Churiwal, released on September 2. Riya Sen, Mumtaz Sorcar,Mahima Chaudhry, Shataf Figar, Rajesh Sharma, Indrasish Roy and others will be playing pivotal roles in the film.
