With six
decades of absolute mastery across languages, Asha Bhosle has always
been the undisputed reigning queen of Indian music. Zee Classic, with
its brand promise ‘WohZamaanaKareDeewana’ celebrated this living legend’s 83rd
birthday with an unforgettable concert called ‘Timeless Asha’, held recently at Bhaidas Hall in Mumbai.

Zee Classic’s ‘Timeless Asha’ was graced by the legendary singer
herself who was felicitated with a special Mana Cha Murja. The evening
saw some amazing performances by Urmila Matondkar, Radhika Apte, Terrance
Lewis, Bhumi Pednekar, Lauren Gottlieb, Mahi Gil along with ace dancers Raghav,
Mukti and Shakti Mohan. Versatile singers Monali Thakur and Antara
Mitra also paid an exclusive homage to Ashaji in presence of stalwarts of
Hindi cinema like Dimple Kapadia, ZeenatAman Kumar Sanu, Shaan and Mika
Singh.
Present at the occasion,
Asha Bhosle commented, “I
have always celebrated my birthday with my family and close friends. And I am
deeply honored that Zee Classic has decided to host this special concert to
celebrate my 83rdbirthday. Watching the young singers of today
perform on my songs in the presence of all my well wishers in the industry was
indeed a very humbling experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the
highlight was the song where all the actresses I sang for came on stage after
so many years."
In a career spanning over
sixty years, Asha Bhosle’s body of work includes Hindi and regional film songs,
popular music, ghazals, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs,
qawwalis and RabindraSangeet. Bestowed as the most recorded artist by Guiness
Book of World Records and recognized as the first Indian singer to be nominated
for the Grammy Award she has entertained generation of listeners through her
unflinching love for music.
