Recently the makers of Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit held a low key event in Iskcon Temple Auditorium, Juhu where they paid homage to the slain farmer Sarbjit who had died on 2nd May, 2013. The serene event was attended by Sarbjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, Sarbjit’s wife Sukpreet Kaur, Sarbjit’s daughter Poonam Singh along with lead starcast of the film Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chaddha, Darshan Kumar and director Omung Kumar. Also present were the producers Bhushan Kumar, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Sandeep Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Vanita Kumar and screenplay writer Rajesh Beri. The event commenced with the recitation of beautiful hymns from the holy book Guru Granth Sahib, followed by a formal introduction of the real life Sarbjit’s family by reel life family members. A series of emotional moment took place as Dalbir Kaur shared her thoughts on the film and star-cast, acknowledged everyone for their love and support. Randeep and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also shared their journey in making the biopic and Director Omung Kumar ended it by gifting a self-made portrait painting of real Sarbjit to Dalbir Kaur and his family as a mark of respect.
