As a busy surgeon, and an expert on weight loss, Dr Muffazal Lakdawala has worked with countless people helping them save their health by eating right. His team counsels people every day on how to eat healthy by whipping up yummy, healthy meals that are economical and easy to make.
Dr Muffazal Lakdawala launched his first book, The Eat-Right Prescription at Crossword, Kemps Corner. The event was attended by fashion designer, politician & social worker Shaina NC and famous ghazal singer Roopa Kumar Rathod with wife Sunali Rathod among others.
The Eat-Right Prescription brings all of that knowledge and expertise to your very own kitchen. There are no fad diets, no quick-fixes and he does not support eliminating traditional foods.
From buying the right ingredients, to planning meals, and involving kids in cooking, The Eat-Right Prescription combines medical and scientific knowledge with practical wisdom. It’s the go-to guide for individuals and families who want to eat right, stay healthy and lead productive, happy lives.
The Eat-Right Prescription has won support from several celebrities, including superstar Salman Khan, who tweeted: Dnt stop eating. Jst eat right. Read Dr Muffi’s book. #EatRight #DrMuffiIn fact, Khan’s mother, Salma Khan, has contributed a delicious and very healthy quinoa pulao recipe to the book. Other celebrities who swear by The Eat-Right Prescription are Mushtaq Sheikh, Reshma and Suleman Merchant and Smita Thackeray.
Dr Lakdawala says, “In all my years as a bariatric surgeon, I have never met a man or a woman who thinks he or she is thin enough. And this includes super-fit actors and women who are size zero. Yeh dil always maange more! Weight loss is a billion-dollar industry for a reason. There is a lucky minority that has fantastic genes, but for the rest of us, weight gain is inevitable, and weight loss is a struggle.
However, I want to remind everyone that you are in charge of your life in every aspect. If you respect your body by working out, eating a balanced diet, and managing your work-life balance, it will reward you with wellness. More importantly, if you set an example for your family, and especially your children, they will benefit from watching and following you.
And this is the philosophy we follow at CODS with every patient. No scaremongering. No fad diets. There is no magic formula to weight loss. No miracle cure. Staying healthy and keeping your weight in check needs to be a priority every day. You need to do the simple things every day of the week, every week of the month, month after month, year after year. Even if you skip a day, a week or a month, you can always get back on track and you should.
This is why my team and I have created a book for you.The Eat-Right Prescription is intended to be a friendly guide and teacher on your wellness journey. The medical symbol for a prescription - ℞ - comes from the Latin word for ‘recipe’. So a prescription is a recipe for health, and this is what the book is inspired by.
Whether you are starting to think about getting in shape or you need to stay in shape, there is something for you in here. I hope that this book inspires you and your family to eat healthy, stay fit and strong, and truly embrace wellness. There is no greater gift you can give yourself and your loved ones than good health
I have not given up eating my favourite fish curry or biryani. I don’t run away scared from any food. Neither does my family. And neither do my team or our patients. We don’t believe that quinoa is the only healthy grain or that you must eat salmon to stay fit. We believe in balance, respecting local ingredients, enjoying traditional foods and finding a way to stay fit and healthy while eating delicious meals.”
