Manoj Bajpayee launches Budhia Singh Born To Run anthem

National award winning actor Manoj Bajpayee ensured that the anthem launch of his forthcoming awe-inspiring biopic, Budhia Singh – Born To Run was one to remember!

From Viacom18 Motion Pictures – the studio that gave Indian cinema Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom and Manjhi – The Mountain Man, comes this inspirational true story of the world’s youngest marathon runner Budhia Singh - Born To Run.

Budhia Singh - Born To Run is based on the relationship between Budhia (Mayur Patole) and his judo coach, Biranchi Das, played by Manoj Bajpayee. Das rescued the little boy from one of Bhubaneswar's most notorious slums and helped him achieve incredible heights.

Taking onlookers and the gathered media by surprise, the versatile actor arrived at the venue, St Stanislaus School, Bandra, running along with Master Mayur and took couple of rounds of the basketball court.

Following this, the team of Budhia Singh Born To Run including producer Ajit Andhare of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, director Soumendra Padhi, Manoj Bajpayee, Master Mayur headed to the school auditorium for a panel discussion with Sunil Chhetri – Captain of Indian National Football team, EX CRPF Chief, BS Gill and renowned child psychologist Dr Sanjoy Mukerji.

After the panel discussion, the soul-stirring anthem of Budhia Singh Born To Run was launched amidst a packed house of school children and the media to a thunderous applause by producer Ajit Andhare of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, director Soumendra Padhi, Manoj Bajpayee and Master Mayur.

Talking about the film says director Soumendra, “Surprisingly, Budhia Singh –Born To Run is a success story most of us are not aware of. So it needs to be told. The movie is the celebration of an ordinary boy who rose from the ashes like the phoenix and made his country proud.”

Says producer Ajit Andhare, “Whenever we have made unusual films, we have often been asked why we make films which are unconventional in terms of genre and subjects like Mary Kom or Manjhi – The Mountain Man. These subjects are very dear to us because at the heart of these films are great stories. The heroes you see in these films are real, relatable and inspiring. Accordingly, Budhia Singh – Born To Run is a film with a great heart.”

Manoj Bajpayee says, “I used to teach theatre to children in schools which was quite demanding. So that experience helped me to train them in the movie. To train a 5-year-old was difficult and to give him one direction was very challenging. I've always maintained distance from Mayur and the other children because I wanted them to feel that I was the coach. As an actor and an individual, working on Budhia Singh... was difficult and inspiring.”
