SRK aka Raees special song for Makarsankranti

Festivals in India always provide a perfect backdrop for music, dance, costumes and lavish sets to Bollywood filmmakers.

Right from Ganesh Chaturthi to Diwali, our movies celebrate each festival with much fanfare and enthusiasm.

Shah Rukh Khan also will be seen celebrating Makar Sankranti in his upcoming film Raees. The makers of the film have come out with a special song titled Udi Udi to celebrate the festival. For the first time the actor will be seen doing Garba on screen!

The music is composed by Ram Sampath, the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar and the song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Bhoomi Trivedi and Karsan Sagathia.

Director Rahul Dholakia who is a Gujarati says, “Uttran is one of the biggest festivals in Gujarat and Garba is our state dance! No film rooted in Gujarat can be complete without having either of them.  A majority of the writers were gujjus and we decided to incorporate a special song which also takes the story forward.”

The filmmaker adds that a special manja (thread) was called in from Surat, “SRK’s character in the film loves to fly kites and is an expert at cutting other people’s kites.  There is a dialogue in the film where Shah Rukh says, ‘Agar Katne k darr hota na, toh patang nahi chadhata, firki pakadta.’ To give the authenticity to the character we decided to use Surti manjha which is razor sharp. A couple of times during the shoot he actually cut his fingers,” he says.
