R. Madhavan, who played a retired boxer-turned-coach with élan in Sudha Kongara’s Irudhi Suttru, has bagged the Best Actor award at the second edition of IIFA Utsavam 2017 for the critically-acclaimed Tamil sports drama.
The Hindi version of Irudhi Suttru titled Saala Khadoos was also appreciated from both audience and the critics alike. Interestingly, Irudhi Suttru was nominated in five major categories including Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor Female and Best Singer Female.
Last year, Irudhi Suttru was screened at the prestigious Tokyo International Film Festival and the movie was met with a fabulous response from the people and the media, who couldn’t stop praising Madhavan’s stupendous performance in the inspiring movie.
Madhavan said of his win, “It was wonderful to win the award at the global platform. The response to Irudhi Suttru and Saala Khadoos has been overwhelming. I think after four years of hard work and challenges I feel truly vindicated.”
