Siddharth Roy Kapur re-elected as the President of the Producers Guild of India

Siddharth Roy Kapur unanimously re-elected as the President of the Producers Guild of India, at its 64th Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai.


Siddharth Roy Kapur has been re-elected as the President of the Producers Guild of India. He has previously served as the President since January 2017. It was a unanimous decision taken at the first meeting of newly appointed Guild Council on 28th September 2018.

In addition, Sunjoy Waddhwa the eminent television producer has also been elected as the Vice President of the Producers Guild of India. At the same time Priti Shahani and Fazila Allana have been nominated to the Guild Council of Management along with Milan Luthria and Akshaye Widhani who have been included in the Guild Council as Special Invitees.

Vijay Singh, Manish Goswami and Apoorva Mehta continue to be part of the Guild Management team as Vice Presidents in addition to Ashim Samanta who will also continue as the Treasurer.

As the President, Siddharth Roy Kapur has been the leading voice of the industry over the past two years. The Guild has recently signed key strategic alliances such as the one with United Kingdoms Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television and has engaged with key industry and Government stakeholders successfully.

Kulmeet Makkar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Producers Guild of India stated that “Guild has emerged as the most recognised and respected forum for industry progress under the leadership of Siddharth Roy Kapur and we are moving towards becoming an all-encompassing producers body considering the growing importance of television and strong emergence of new media such as Netflix India who have recently joined Guild as its member”.

Siddharth Roy Kapur is an eminent Producer of several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. He founded his own film and digital media production house Roy Kapur Films after a long and successful stint at Disney and UTV.  He was recently named as one of Variety Magazines Top 500 influential people in entertainment globally, amongst only 12 Indians to feature on this list.

Hichki set to release in Hong Kong

YRF’s Hichki set to release in Hong Kong on November 8

Rani Mukerji’s much loved film Hichki will release in Hong Kong on November 8 ! The film has been titled 我的破嗝Miss (My Extraordinary Teacher) for its Hong Kong release. Rani’s performance as Naina Mathur, a school teacher dealing with an involuntary nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome, has been widely lauded by audiences and critics alike across the world. Her brilliant performance has seen her sweep awards and accolades this year.

YRF launches the trailer of its biggest film Thugs of Hindostan on Yash Chopra’s 86th Birth Anniversary

शासनातर्फे संगीत क्षेत्रात गानसम्राज्ञी लता मंगेशकर यांच्या नावे दिला जाणारा पुरस्कार यंदा श्री. विजय पाटील ऊर्फ रामलक्ष्मण यांना मुंबई येथे घोषित करण्यात आला. प्रतिवर्षी राज्य शासनातर्फे गायन व संगीत क्षेत्रात मोलाचे योगदान देणाऱ्या कलाकारास गानसम्राज्ञी लता मंगेशकर पुरस्काराने सन्मानित करण्यात येते. या पुरस्काराचे स्वरुप ५.०० लाख रोख, मानपत्र, सन्मानचिन्ह असे आहे. सांस्कृतिक कार्य मंत्री विनोद तावडे यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखालील समितीने या पुरस्कारासाठी ज्येष्ठ संगीतकार श्री. विजय पाटील उर्फ रामलक्ष्मण यांच्या नावाची शिफारस केली. यापूर्वी हे पुरस्कार श्रीमती माणिक वर्मा, श्रीनिवास खळे, गजानन वाटवे, दत्ता डावजेकर, प. जितेंद्र अभिषेकी, पं. हृहदयानाथ मंगेशकर, ज्योत्स्ना भोळे, आशा भोसले, अनिल विश्वास, सुधीर फडके, प्यारेलाल शर्मा, रवींद्र जैन, स्नेहल भाटकर, मन्ना डे, जयमाला शिलेदार, खय्याम, महेंद्र कपूर, सुमन कल्याणपूर, सुलोचना चव्हाण, यशवंत देव, आनंदजी शहा, अशोक पत्की, कृष्‍णा कल्ले, प्रभाकर जोग, उत्तम ब्रिदपाल सिंग, पुष्पा पागधरे यांना प्रदान करण्यात आला आहे.
श्री.विजय पाटील ऊर्फ रामलक्ष्मण्‍ यांचा जन्म १६ सप्टेंबर १९४२ रोजी नागपूर येथे झाला, त्यांना प्राथमिक संगीताच्या शिक्षणाचे धडे लहानपणी त्यांचे वडील काशीनाथ आणि त्यांचे काका प्रल्हाद  यांच्याकडून गिरवीले आणि उर्वरित शास्त्रीय संगीताचे शिक्षण भातखंडे शिक्षण संस्था, नागपूर येथून पूर्ण केले. आपल्या करियरचे केंद्रबिंदू मुंबई रहावे यासाठी त्यांनी मुंबई मध्ये “अमर विजय” या नावाने ऑर्केस्ट्राची सुरुवात केली अशा एका ऑर्केस्ट्राच्या वेळी दादा कोंडके यांची नजर रामलक्ष्मण यांच्या कार्यक्रमावर पडली आणि त्यांनी १९७४ साली “पांडू हवालदार” या मराठी चित्रपटासाठी संगीत दिग्दर्शक म्हणून त्यांची निवड केली येथूनच त्यांच्या पुढील प्रवासास सुरुवात झाली. “पांडू हवालदार”, “तुमच आमच जमलं”, “राम राम गंगाराम”, “बोट लाविल तेथे गुदगुदल्या”, “आली अंगावर”, “आपली माणसं”, “हिच खरी दौलत”, “दिड शहाणे”, “लेक चालली सासरला”, “देवता” या सर्व दादा कोंडके यांच्या मराठी चित्रपटांसाठी रामलक्ष्मण यांनी संगीत दिले.  तसेच त्यांनी “एंजट विनोद”, “तराणा”, “हम से बडकर कौन”, “मैने प्यार किया”, “हम आप के है कोन”, “हम साथ साथ है”, “१०० डेज”, “अनमोल”, “पोलिस पब्लिक”, “सातवा आसमान”, “पत्थर के फुल” या हिंदी चित्रपटांना त्यांनी बहारदार संगीत दिले. त्यांनी हिंदी, मराठी, भोजपूरी चित्रपट सृष्टीला १५० हून अधिक चित्रपटांना संगीत देऊन आपले बहूमुल्य योगदान दिले आहे.

Kangana won't be taking co directors credit for Manikarnika

Kangana Ranaut turns down the opportunity to take co directors credit for Manikarnika

The teaser of Manikarnika will be launched on October 2 and it has only Krish being credited as the director.There were rumours doing the rounds that suggested Kangana Ranaut would share director credit with Krish for Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, but the Queen of Bollywood has forgone the honour.

While talking to a leading daily, sources have revealed that  Zee Studios offered Kangana the opportunity to be billed as director alongside the South filmmaker but she has politely declined the same. Talking on this a source said, "Kangana re-shot portions of Manikarnika over a 45-day schedule. She did it out of her sheer love for the subject. When the studio asked her if she would take credit for it, she turned down their offer saying that it was her responsibility to ensure the film turns out well."

Manikarnika: The queen of Jhansi will be releasing on January 25, 2019.

Sanjay Kapoor Debuts in South

Actor Sanjay Kapoor who was recently in Netflix's Lust Stories and garnered appreciation for his character is all set to make his debut in South. The actor has kicked off work on a film featuring Nikhil Kumar (son of Karnataka's CM - HD Kumaraswamy) and Rachitha Ram.

Sanjay Kapoor recently kicked off shooting for the Kannada film Seetharama Kalyana,  directed by Harsha.

“Harsha had seen some of my recent work and liked it. He approached me for an interesting role in Seetharama Kalyana and I thought why not, it opens up new avenues for me because I’ve never done any regional film,”  where he is shooting in night shifts. “I am in the city for six days, film units in the South work at a fast pace.

On the challenges of mouthing dialogue in another language, Sanjay revealed, “It makes me nostalgic about school days when I would mug up everything for exams. That said, Harsha has been kind enough to not give me long lines to speak upon request. So far, it’s going good, I have my fingers crossed.”

The makers have released the first look of the most-awaited film on their social networking portal today. The stylish actor will be seen playing a deadly cop in this movie. 'Unrighteous destructive sins or fears' that reads on the first poster of upcoming Bollywood movie, DASSEHRA, hits the curious chord in the viewers' hearts with Protagonist Neil Nitin Mukesh looking brawny and rugged like never before. He matches up to the title corroded with vigor and dynamism, and makes us want more of him from the film.

“DASSEHRA” is a political thriller based on a true story of crime and politics. As today marks the birthday of Dr. Manmohan Singh, his reel version Mr. Anupam Kher took his social media to wish the former Prime Minister with a heartfelt message. He also mentioned how he wishes to have a cup of tea when Mr.Singh watches the film.

Based on a memoir by Sanjaya Baru, The movie is directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, along with Hansal Mehta as the creative producer and also features Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru, the former media advisor to the PM. The script is written by Mayank Tewari, who won the Asian Film Awards for the India’s official Oscar’s entry -  Newton; and Vijay Gutte.

The film is produced by Bohra Bros and is slated to release on December 21, 2018.

Sakett Saawhney directs music video featuring Shantanu Maheshwari and Vrushika Mehta

Producer Sakett Saawhney is on cloud nine after directing a music video featuring Shantanu Maheshwari and Vrushika Mehta  under the banner of Ekomkar Pictures Pvt. ltd. . The shooting concluded yesterday at spectacular Club/Lounge Hoot in Juhu Mumbai.

The song has been sung by Aditi Singh Sharma and rapper Dahek. The music has been given by Bawa- Gulzar. “Aditi, her team and we have been jamming on creating a series of original singles and music videos. I have assisted in direction in the past and have also directed a short film recently. When we bounced the creative idea of the video to Aditi and team, they suggested that I direct it too,” says Sakett.

Sakett was especially happy when he got to know everyone who was involved in the video. “Shantanu and Vrushika are fantastic dancers and have earlier done a dance-based fiction show. When I heard the song, the idea of casting them clicked and luckily we managed to get them on board,” he says, adding, “Ace DOP Manoj Soni, who has done films like ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘Entertainment’ amongst others shot this for us. Mehul-Rahil did an amazing job choreographing it.”
