आता मी कुंपणाच्या त्या बाजूला आहे - इलियाना डीक्रूज

लग्ना केल्याचे सोशल मिडीयावर जाहीर केल्यानंतर अनेक महिन्यांनी इलियाना डीक्रूज हिची भेट झाली. निमीत्त होते, रेड हा तिचा आगामी चित्रपट. गप्पांच्या ओघात ती, खूप आनंदात असल्याचे सांगुन, “ ऍन्ड्रू, माझे काम आणि आयुष्य यात मला आनंदात ठेवतोय. मी अजूनही माझ्या हानीमुनवर आहे असच सांगेन” हे ती निखळ हास्याने कबुल करते.

करीयर आणि वैयक्तिक आयुष्याचा समतोल कसा साधतेस?

- त्यासाठी जबरदस्त इच्छाशक्ती लागते. ते नक्कीच खूप कठीण आहे आणि हा अक्षरशः पर्यायाचा भाग आहे. तुम्हाला कारकीर्द हवी की वैयक्तिक आयुष्य, हे आपले आपणच ठरवायचे असते. मी हा समतोल साधत रहाते, नाहीतर मला वेड लागेल. माझे माझ्या कुटुंबावर प्रेम आहे आणि त्याबरोबर मी माझ्या कामावरही प्रेम करते. बरेच लोक मला सांगतात की, मी काम घालवून बसेन. थोडेसे काम गेले तरी चालेल. वीस वर्षांनंतर मला काम सोडल्याबद्दल पश्चाताप वाटून घ्यायचा नाही.

रेड या चित्रपटातील भूमिका स्विकारण्याचा निर्णय का घेतला?

- अजय देवगणबरोबर काम करत आहे त्याचे मला समाधान आहे. या चित्रपटात माझी महत्वपुर्ण भुमिका आहे. ही भूमिका लांबीला काही मोठी नाही. मला माहीत आहे की, अजय  सक्षम अभिनेता आहे. रे़डमध्ये तो लोकांना खरोखरच आवडेल. येथे तुम्हाला अतीरंजकला किंवा उगाचची घातलेली दृष्ये येथे दिसणार नाहीत. जे काही दिसेल ते वेगळ्या प्रकारे. यापैकी काहीही अतिनाट्यमय नाही. तर सगळे वास्तववादी आहे.

अजय देवगणबरोबर काम करताना कम्फर्ट लेवल कशी होती?

- मला प्रामाणिकपणे वाटते की दुसरा कोणी कलाकार असता, तर मी हा चित्रपट केला नसता. आम्ही जेंव्हा बादशाहो करत होतो, तेंव्हा मला अजयने या कथेविषयी सांगितले होते. ही खूपच चांगली कथा आहे. लोकांना एवढ्या सगळ्या दिव्यामधुन जावे लागते, यावर माझा विश्वास नव्हता. ८० च्या दशकात तिचे प्रेम असलेल्या माणसासाठी ती उभी रहाते. ती त्याला बरोबरीचा मानते आणि तो ते मान्य करतो ते येथे पहायला मिळेल.

रेडमधिल भारतीय पेहरावाबद्दल काय सांगशील?

- मी स्टायलिस्ट अमिरा फुनवानीची मदत घेतली. तिला पार्श्वभूमी आणि ऐंशीच्या दशकातील स्टाईल माहीत होती. ती लखनौचीच आहे. तिने रेखाच्या सिलसिलामधील लुकपासून प्रेरणा घेतली. आणि मला तोच लुक जो वास्तववादी आणि नैसर्गिक असा दिला.

भुमिकेसाठी काय अभ्यास केलास? खऱ्या लोकांना भेटलीस का?

- मी भेटले नाही, पण मला त्या अधिकाऱ्याला भेटायला आवडेल आणि तो अकालनिय शूर होते यावर वाद नाही. तो नेहमी गणवेशात येत असे. नवरा कुठे आहे किंवा कधी परत येणार याची त्यांच्या बायकोला काहीच कल्पना नसे आणि ते एका बायकोसाठी किती कठीण आहे हा विचारच मला जिवघेणा वाटतो.

रेड हा चित्रपट वास्तववादी असताना ती भुमिका साकरताना तुझी मनस्थिती कश्याप्रकारे होती?

- भुमिकेची मी फारशी तयारी करत नाही. कधीकधी अतिविचार केल्याने भुमिका साकारताना यांत्रिकपणा येतो. भुमिकेची तयारी करण्यापुर्वी, माझ्या दिग्दर्शकाला मी खूप प्रश्न विचारते. रेडमधिल भुमिका साकारताना देखिल मी तसेच केले. तर दिग्दर्शक राजकुमार गुप्ता यांनी, तुम्हाला ज्याप्रकारे वाटेल तशी भूमिका करा असे सांगीतल्याने, मला त्यात सहजता वाटली. आणि मी ज्यापद्धतीने मी जे साकारले ते त्याला आवडले.

पती-पत्नीतील नाते समजून घेणे सोपे होते का?

- माझ्या मते प्रत्येक नाते हे वेगळे असते. माझे आई आणि वडील खूप वेगळे आहेत . त्यांचे वागणे पाहुन ते ऐखादया पध्दतीने का वागत आहेत असा मला प्रश्न पडायचा. आणि मला वाटायचे, ते अश्या पध्दतीने कश्याप्रकारे वागु शकतात. प्रत्येक नाते हे वेगळे असते आणि ते तुम्ही तुमच्या पद्धतीने हाताळता. मालिनी आणि अमेयच्या नात्याबद्दल बोलायचे तर, ती त्याच्याशी कशाबद्दलही बोलते आणि ती एक करारी स्री आहे. मला प्रत्येक समीकरण वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारे हाताळावे लागले. जसे की मुबारकामध्ये मी करणला बदडून काढते. मी माझ्या सहचराबरोबर असं काही करणार नाही. भुमिकेबद्दल बोलायचे तर,  तुम्हाला तुमची भुमिका स्पष्ट करुन सांगणे हे लेखकाचे काम आहे.

काजोलच्या भेटीबद्दल काय सांगशील?

- अभिनेत्री म्हणुन मला काजोल प्रचंड आवडते. तसेच माधुरीसुध्दा मला खुप आवडते. ती जरी ८०च्या दशकातली नसली तरी मला तिला बघायला प्रचंड आवडायचे. मी अजयची चाहती नाही, मात्र जेंव्हा मी कुछ कुछ होता है आणि कभी खुशी कभी गम बघते, मला काजोलच्या चेहऱ्यावरील भाव प्रचंड आवडतात. जेंव्हा मी नायसाला बघते, ती अगदी काजोलसारखी आहे, मिनी काजोलच म्हणायला हरकत नाही.

लखनौमध्ये चित्रिकरणाचा अनुभव कसा होता?

- माझी स्टायलिस्ट हि लखनौची आहे खरी परंतु तिचा बोलण्याचा लहेजा एकदम वेगळा होता. येथे मालिनीबद्दल म्हणाल तर तिला तसे बोलण्याची गरज नव्हती कारण तिची बदली सतत होत असते. लखनौमध्ये असताना मी कबाब खाल्लेत आणि खूप खरेदी देखिल केली. मला हॉटेलच्या बाहेर जाणे शक्य नव्हते. मग मी हॉटेलवर मागवायची.  तणाव हा नेहमीच असतो, मात्र तुम्ही तो कश्याप्रकारे घेता, यावर सगळे अवलंबून असते. तेथे असताना, मी फारशी काळजी केली नाही आणि चांगले खाल्ले. मला थोडासा आराम मात्र करायचा होता.

तुझ्या भूमिकांची निवड कशी करतेस?

- अभिनेत्रींसाठी भुमिका तश्या क्वचीतच लिहील्या जातात. दरम्यान भूमिका बदलत आहेत आणि मला बऱ्याच महिलाप्रधान भूमिका मिळत आहेत. नायिका कोण असेल ते नायक ठरवतो, पण आता मी कुंपणाच्या त्या बाजूला आहे.

ब्युटी सर्जरीबद्दल तुझे मत काय?

- मला काही करण्यास सांगितले गेले होते, पण मी त्या व्यक्तीला गांभिर्याने घेतले नाही.

तुझ्यासाठी प्रभावशाली व्यक्तीमत्वाची महीला कोण आहे?

- माझ्यासाठी माझी आई प्रभावशाली महीला आहे. महीलांच्या सुरक्षेसाठी देशाने काहीतरी करणे गरजेचे आहे आणि लोकांची मानसिकता बदलणे गरजेचे आहे. त्यांच्यासाठी शिक्षणाची सोय केली पाहीजे, ज्याने त्यांना ते जे वागत आहेत ते बरोबर नसल्याची जाणीव होईल. सुरक्षा बाळगण्याची चैन मी करु शकते. सामान्य परिस्थितीत मला मोकळेपणाने रहायला आवडेल, मला असुरक्षित वाटते. मात्र मी चालायला जाऊ शकत नाही, कारण ते सुरक्षित नाही.

ऍंड्रयूला तुझ्यातले काय आवडते?

- तो म्हणतो मी विक्षिप्त आणि विलक्षण आहे. तू अशा गोष्टी करतेस ज्यामुळे मला हजार वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारे आनंद मिळतो. तो मला खूप सुंदर पत्रे लिहतो. त्याचा मी एक असा गुण सांगू शकत नाही. जेंव्हा पहील्यांदा तो माझ्याशी फोनवर बोलला, तेंव्हाच आमच्यात काहीतरी नाते आहे, असे मला जाणवले. तो वचनबद्धता मानणारयांपैकी आहे.

तो खूप छान फोटो काढतो, पण अडचण ही आहे की, तो फोटोशॉप करत नाही. तो माझे सगळेच फोटो सुंदर काढतो. त्याला मला साडीत बघायला आवडते, त्याच्या मते मी साडीत खूप सुंदर दिसते. दिवाळीत मी साडी नेसली होती त्यात त्याला मी खूपच हॉट वाटले.

त्याला भारतीय जेवणावळीत काय आवडते?

- डाळ आणि भेंडीची भाजी त्याला खूप आवडते. मांसाहारापेक्षा तो  शाकाहारी राहणे आनंदाने पसंद करतो.

रेडनंतर तु कोणता चित्रपट करत आहेस? 

- मी अजुन काही ठरवलेले नाही. तो निर्णय घेण्यासाठी मला काही महीने लागतील. सध्या तरीमी छोट्या ब्रेकवर आहे. मला ऍंड्रयू आणि माझ्या कुटुंबाबरोबर वेळ घालवायचा आहे. माझी आई पदवी मिळवत आहे म्हणून मी अमेरीकेला पण जाणार आहे.

राजकुमार गुप्ताबरोबर काम करण्याचा अनुभव कसा होता?

- खूपच चांगला.. तो काम करायला एकदम सहज आणि अगदी स्पष्ट आहे आणि मला त्याचे ते  आवडते. तर तो भुमिकेला इतक्या बारकाईने तयार करतो की, त्याला हे समजते की मालिनी हि काही टीपिकल गृहीणी नाही ते समजुन त्याने त्यात असाधारणता जोडली आहे.

आज तिन दिवसानंतर श्रीदेवीचे पार्थीव मुंबईत दाखल झाले. तामिळ, तेलगु आणि हिंदी चित्रपटसृष्ट्रीच नाव कमावलेल्या श्रीदेवीला श्रध्दासुमने, वाहण्यासाठी आज सिनेसृष्ट्री लोखंडवाला परिसरातील सेलीब्रेशन क्लबमध्ये एकत्रीत आली आहे. या क्लबमध्ये, सकाळी 9.30 ते 12.30 पर्य़त, सिनेसृष्ट्री आणि चाहत्यांना तिचे अंत्यदर्शन घेता येणार आहे. बोनी कपुर हे मुलगी जान्हवी आणि खुशी  यांच्याबरोबर तेथे उपस्थीत आहेत. 

दुपारी, 12.30 नंतर सेलीब्रेशन क्लबपासुन, श्रीदेवी यांच्या  अंत्ययात्रेला सुरवात होईल. आणि 3.30 वाजता विलेपार्ले येथील पवन हंस स्मशान भुमीत त्यांच्या पार्थीवावर पारंपारीतरीत्या अंत्यसंस्कार  केले जातील.

श्रीदेवी यांच्या अकाली मृत्युने चित्रपटसृष्ट्रीवर अवकळा पसरली आहे. आज चित्रपटसृष्ट्री स्टॅन्डस्टील दिसुन आलीय. आपल्या लाडक्या अभिनेत्रीला शेवटची आदरांजली वाहण्यासाठी म्हणुन, हिंदी चित्रपटसृष्ट्रीतील अनेक पुर्व नियोजीत कार्यक्रम रद्द करण्यात आले आहेत. त्यात अनुष्का शर्मा निर्मीत परि या चित्रपटाला खास खेळ रद्द करण्यात आला आहे. तसेच, ब्रुस विल्स अभिनीत, डेथ विश या चित्रपटाला खेळ देखिल रद्द करण्याला आला आहे.

आपल्या सौंदर्याने घायाळ करणारया, नृत्यलालीत्याने ठेका धरायला लावणारया, नटखट-चुळबुळ्या स्वभावाने आपलसं करणारया श्रीदेवी यांना अलविदा...

 

Sridevi is no more

54 साल की उम्र में श्रीदेवी का निधन, कल हो सकता है अंतिम संस्कार


बॉलीवुड की दिग्गज अभिनेत्री श्रीदेवी का शनिवार देर रात दुबई में हार्ट अटैक से निधन हो गया. श्रीदेवी अपने भांजे की शादी में शरीक होने दुबई से 120 किलोमीटर दूर रास अल खैमा गईं थी. श्रीदेवी के असमय निधन से पूरा देश सदमे में है. राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद और प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी सहित बड़ी बड़ी हस्तियों ने उनके निधन पर शोक व्यक्त किया है. जिस वक्त उनका निधन हुआ उनके पति बोनी कपूर और बेटी खुशी कपूर उनके साथ थे.


दुबई से मुंबई लाया जा रहा है शव

उनके शव को भारत लाए जाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू हो गई है. यूएई के कानून के मुताबिक पहले उनका पोस्टमार्टम किया जाएगा और जांच के बाद ही शव परिवार को सौंपा जाएगा. श्रीदेवी का पार्थिव शरीर दुबई पुलिस के पास है. सोनापुर में शव पर लेप लगाने का काम होगा. इसके बाद शव को ताबुत में रखर चार्टर प्लेन में मुंबई लाया जाएगा. रात 11 बजे तक शव के मुंबई पहुंचने की संभावना है.

बेटी जाहन्वी भी दुबई गईं

जैसे ही श्रीदेवी की मौत की खबर आई, कोई भी यकीन करने को तैयार नहीं था, उस वक़्त एबीपी न्यूज ने  बोनी कपूर के छोटे भाई संजय कपूर से बात की जिन्होंने इस खबर की पुष्टि की. संजय कपूर ने बताया कि वो भी शादी में गए थे और वहां वापस लौट आए थे, अब लो वापस दुबई जा रहे हैं. उनके साथ श्रीदेवी की बड़ी बेटी जाहन्वी कपूर भी जा रही हैं.  संजय कपूर ने दुबई में खलीज टाइम्स से बताया कि श्रीदेवी को होटल के कमरे में दिल का दौरा पड़ा और उन्हें पहले से दिल की बीमारी नहीं थी.

कल हो सकता है अंतिम संस्कार

फिल्म समीक्षक प्रदीप सरदाना ने श्रीदेवी के रिश्तेदार संदीप मारवाह के हवाले से एबीपी न्यूज़ को बताया कि श्रीदेवी का अंतिम संस्कार कल हो सकता है. पहले खबर थी कि आज ही अंतिम संस्कार होगा. संदीप मारवाह ने बताया कि परिवार के बाकी लोग शादी में शामिल होकर वापस आ गए थे लेकिन श्रीदेवी शॉपिंग के लिए रुक गईं थीं.

श्रीदेवी के निधन पर बॉलीवुड में शोक

श्रीदेवी के निधन की खबर सुनते बॉलीवुड समेत पूरे देश में शोक की लहर दौड़ गई. बॉलीवुड समेत अन्य क्षेत्रों की दिग्गज हस्तियों ने उनके निधन पर शोक जताया है.  प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ट्वीट किया, ''जानी मानी अभिनेत्री श्रीदेवी का अचानक निधन. अपने लंबे करियर में उन्होंने कई यादगार रोल किए. दुख की इस घड़ी में मेरी संवेदनाएं उनके परिवार के साथ हैं, भगवान उनकी आत्मी को शांति दे.''


फिल्म अभिनेता धर्मेंद्र ने कहा, ''मैंने अजीब से माहौल से गुज रहा हूं, मैं सोच कर दुखी हूं कि इतनी जल्दी ये कैसे हो गया. वो मेरी हीरोइन रहीं, वो शूटिंग में हमारे लिए खाना भी लातीं थीं. अभी कुछ भी याद करने का मन नहीं कर रहा है, हमें सिर्फ उनके परिवार को ताकत देनी चाहिए.''

एक नजर श्रीदेवी से सफर पर

श्रीदेवी का जन्म 13 अगस्त 1963 को हुआ था. इस अभिनेत्री ने सिर्फ हिंदी ही नहीं बल्कि तमिल, तेलुगू, मलयाली और कन्नड़ फिल्मों में भी काम किया था. 1975 में आई फिल्म जूली से श्रीदेवी ने चाइल्ड आर्टिस्ट के तौर पर एक्टिंग में डेब्यू किया था.

श्रीदेवी की पहचान बॉलीवुड की पहली महिला सुपर स्टार के तौर की जाती रही है. अपने फिल्म करियर की ऊंचाइयों के दौरान लाखों दिलों की धड़कन रही हैं. उन्होंने अपनी खूबसूरती और अपने अभिनय से अपनी अलग पहचान बनाई. बचपन में ही अपना फिल्मी सफर शुरू करने वाली श्रीदेवी ने 12 साल की उम्र में ही बॉलीवुड में बतौर बाल कलाकार कदम रखा. तेलगू, मलयालम, कन्नड़ फिल्मों में काम करने के बाद 1978 में पहली बार लीड हीरोइन के तौर पर बॉलीवुड में अपना ऐसा जलवा बिखेरा की पूरे सिने प्रेमियों को अपनी दीवानी बना लिया.

‘हिम्मतवाला’ फिल्म से मिली पॉपुलैरिटी

उनकी पहली फिल्म ‘मून्द्र्हु मुदिछु’ तमिल में थी. श्रीदेवी का बॉलीवुड में डेब्यू 1978 में फिल्म ‘सोलहवाँ सावन’ से हुआ. लेकिन उन्हें फेम फिल्म 1983 में रिलीज हुई फिल्म ‘हिम्मतवाला’ से मिला. 1983 में आई उनकी फिल्म ‘मवाली’ ने बॉक्स ऑफिस पर ऐसा तहलका मचाया कि हरेक जुबान पर श्रीदेवी का जादू सिर चढ़कर बोलने लगा. ‘नया कदम’ (1984), ‘मकसद’ (1984), ‘मास्टर जी’ (1985), ‘नजराना’ (1987) में उन्होंने अभिनय के अलग-अलग रंग बिखेर. 1987 में आई उनकी फिल्म ‘मिस्टर इंडिया’ ने महलों से लेकर झोपड़ियों तक उनकी पहचान को गहरा कर दिया. ‘सदमा’, ‘नागिन’, ‘निगाहें’, ‘चालबाज़’, ‘लम्हें, ‘खुदा गवाह’ और ‘जुदाई’ उनकी कुछ सुपरहिट फिल्में हैं. 2013 में श्रीदेवी को पद्म श्री का पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया.

शादी के बाद फिल्मों से दूर हुईं, ‘इंग्लिश विंग्लिश’ से किया कमबैक

श्रीदेवी ने 1996 में अपनी उम्र से लगभग 8 साल बड़े फिल्म निर्माता बोनी कपूर से शादी कर सबको चौंका दिया था. इनकी दो बेटियां भी हैं- जाह्न्वी और खुशी कपूर. फिलहाल इनकी बड़ी बेटी पूरी तरह से बॉलीवुड में आने को तैयार है. शादी के बाद श्रीदेवी ने फिल्मी दुनिया से अपनी दूरी बना ली लेकिन इस दौरान वह कई टीवी शो में नजर आईं.


श्रीदेवी ने साल 2012 में गौरी शिंदे की फिल्म ‘इंग्लिश विंग्लिश’ से रूपहले परदे पर अपनी वापसी की. हिंदी सिनेमा से कई वर्षो तक दूर रहने के बाद भी फिल्म ‘इंग्लिश विंग्लिश’ में उन्होंने बेहतरीन अभिनय से आलोचकों और दर्शकों को चौंका दिया था. इसके बाद पिछले साल उनकी फिल्म मॉम रिलीज हुई. इसमें उन्होंने मां की भूमिका निभाई जिसे काफी पसंद किया गया.

48th IFFI awardees

120 Beats Per Minute wins the Golden Peacock at IFFI 2017

Morocco born French Director Robin Campillo’s drama film ‘ 120 BPM’ or ‘120 Beats Per Minute’ has won the covetedGolden Peacock Award at the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which concluded in Goa on November 28.

The film, set in France in the 1990s deals about homosexuality and the AIDS epidemic. The film, starring Nahuel Perez Biscayart,  Arnaud Valois and Adele Haenel, had its world premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It had its India premiere at the IFFI 2017.

The Golden Peacock Award carries a cash prize of Rs 4 million (Rs 40 lakhs)to be shared equally between the Producer and the Director, Trophy and the citation.

Chinese director Vivian Qu won the Best Director Award for her 2017 film ‘Angels Wear White’. The film is about the travails of two teenage girls who are assaulted by a middle aged man in a seaside town in China. Vivian’s hard hitting social drama provides a social context for violence against women.

Best Director gets the Silver Peacock Award and a cash prize of Rs 1.5 million (Rs 15 lakhs)

The Best Actor (Male) Award goes to  Nahuel Perez Biscaryat for his portrayal of AIDS activist Sean Dalmazo, an effective member of ACT UP to represent all the horror of the epidemic in the French film ‘120 BPM’ .  A caring lover and firm in his beliefs, Sean isn’t simply an ideologue, but someone who binds his activism to the strongest will to live.

The Best Actor (Female) goes to  Parvathy T K for her portrayal of a nurse who wages a battle for the release of her husband held hostage by the rebel army in the war-torn Iraq in Mahesh Narayanan’s Malayalam film ‘Take Off’.   Parvathy,  who hails from Kozhikode, Kerala mostly stars in South Indian films.  She has won many awards and accolades including the Kerala State Film Award and Filmfare award.

Both Best Actor Male and Female are honoured with the Silver Peacock Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 million (Rs 10 lakhs each)

Mahesh Narayan  also walks away with the Special Jury Award for his directorial debut ‘Take Off’ whichfocusses on the dramatic rescue of Indians trapped in Tikrit. Survival films is a genre of cinema in which one or more characters find themselves pitted against seemingly insurmountable odds and have to look within themselves to find the strength to escape/survive.

Special Jury Award carries a cash prize of Rs 1.5 million (Rs 15 lakhs), a Silver Peacock Award and the citation.

Bolivian director Kiro Russo has won the Silver Peacock for the Best Feature Film of the Director. Russo’s debut film ‘Dark Skull’ offers a darkly beautiful subterranean study in atmosphere and mourning.

Manouj Kadaamh’s Marathi film ‘Kshitij’ has won the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal.  The criteria for the Gandhi Medal reflect UNESCO’s fundamental mandate of building peace in the mind of men and women, particularly human rights, intercultural dialogue, promotion and safeguard of diversity of cultural expressions.

One of Canada’s most celebrated art house directors, Atom Egoyan was honoured with the IFFI 2017  Lifetime Achievement Award. The prestigious award consisting of a cash prize of Rs 1 million (Rs 10 lakhs), Certificate, Shawl and a Scroll is conferred upon a master film maker for his /her outstanding contribution to cinema.

Egyptian born French Canadian filmmaker Egoyan’s work often explores themes of alienation and isolation, featuring characters whose interactions are mediated through technology, bureaucracy or other power structures. Egoyan's films often follow non-linear plot structures, in which events are placed out of sequence in order to elicit specific emotional reactions from the audience by withholding key information. 48th International Film Festival of India inaugurated at Goa

The Union Minister of Textiles and Information & Broadcasting, Smriti Zubin Iranihas said that India is a land of festivals,celebrations, dynamic youth and stories, wherestories are toldin over 1600 dialects. Minister said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the48^th international Film Festival of India in Goa.

Elaborating further, Smt Smriti ZubinIrani said that the endeavor of Government of India through International Film Festival of India is to invite film makers from all over the world to the land of stories. Speaking on the role of IFFI, Minister said that the festival will help the film lovers to meet the biggest and brightest names of Indian film industry.

Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parikkar in his address welcomed all the delegates to IFFI 2017 and said that Goa will be ready in 2019 to host the 50^th edition of IFFI in a magnificent way.Shri.Parikkar added that Goa has developed a good film culture over the last few years and the state government would continue its work towards further developing the film industry in Goa.

Earlier, Indian film starShri. Shahrukh Khan while welcoming all film makers and delegates to IFFI 2017 said that films are about loving, about an idea transformed into reality by hundreds of people working together. He further added that storytellers and story listeners are like a family and stories have the power to bind each and every one together.

The opening ceremony of IFFI 2017 was anchored by Raj Kumar Rao and RadhikaApte and eminent Indian film personalities such as A.R Rahman,Sridevi, Nana Patekar and ShahidKapoor graced the event.The inaugural ceremony also witnessed some mesmerizing audio visual performances like ‘Drums of India’, a musical treat with drums from all across the country and ‘Utsav’, a visual spectacle showcasing diversity of Indian culture.


The 48th IFFI will showcase the best of recent International cinema, along with special sections such as Retrospectives, BRICS Award-Winning films, Homages and and Indian Panorama Section featuring the best of Indian Cinema produced in the past year, with the aim of providing a platform for young creative minds to interact, view and learn.

IFFI 2017 will showcase 195 films from over 82 countries of which there will be 10 World Premieres, 10 Asian and International premieres and over 64 Indian premieres. The International Competition section of IFFI 2017 will have 15 films competing for the Golden and Silver Peacock awards. The International Competition jury is headed by renowned filmmaker Muzaffar Ali and other jury members include Maxine Williamson from Australia, Actor-Director Tzahi Grad from Israel, Russian Cinematographer VladislavOpelyants, Director and Production Designer Roger Christian from the United Kingdom.


IFFI 2017 will also witness Indo-centric projects with a strong international connect at the Opening as well as the Closing films. Iranian master MajidMajidi’s first film made in India, “Beyond the Clouds” and Pablo Cesar’s Indo-Argentine co-production “Thinking of Him”, centered on an episode in the life of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore will be screened as opening and closing films respectively.


As the first of its kind in the country, IFFI 2017 has a specially curated section of James Bond films. The special section with 9 iconic James Bond films will showcase the various leading actors who have essayed the character of James Bond from 1962 to 2012. Further, IFFI 2017 will have a special focus on Canada curated by the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Homage presentations at the 48th IFFI will include tributes to the late Actors Om Puri,VinodKhanna, Tom Alter, ReemaLagoo, Jayalalitha, Directors Abdul Majid, Kundan Shah, DasariNarayanaRao and Cinematographer RamanandaSengupta.

IFFI 2017 will also host a special curated selection of 7 award winning films from BRICS region as part of the BRICS Film package. The Accessible India, Accessible Cinema section at IFFI 2017 will showcase 2 audio-described cinematic works for the visually impaired thereby continuing the support for Government of India ‘Accessible India Campaign’.


Indian Panorama 2017 will further screen both Feature & Non-Feature films in Goa at 48th International Film Festival of India, 2017. The opening film of the feature film section of Indian Panaroma will be Pihu, directed by Vinod Kapri and the opening film of the non-feature film section of Indian Panorama is PushkarPuran which has been directed by Kamal Swaroop. This will showcase the new Indian cinema from across the country.

Synopsis of Do Raha

Do Raha revolves around the Randhawas, an Army family whose lives are turned upside down when they lose a son at war. It is about the journey of a family who was once happy and together but is now torn apart by greed and betrayal. Secret Superstar' is a family film and has a much wider scope : Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan Productions' upcoming film 'Secret Superstar' portrays the life of a teenage girl and her struggles while she fulfills her dreams. The film essentially is based on the life of a teenager, however, has a wider scope and is a must watch for everyone.

The production house has time and again provided content driven films that not only stimulate the mind but also evoke thoughts. The films like 'Taare Zameen Par' and 'Dangal' not only entertained us but also delivered a social message.

With 'Secret Superstar' Aamir Khan Productions is all set to present another mind bending tale which pleases not only a particular age group but the entire family. Talking about the same, Aamir Khan said, "I think as creative people we can make more films for children. We make very less films for the kids, also for the teenagers and we should make more films for this age group. And this is one film that is for youngsters, age group between 12 and 18. But it isn't restricted to that particular age group. This is a family film, even small kids will like it and even older people will enjoy it. I think it's a family film and has a much wider scope."

'Secret Superstar' is a film essentially based on music with the lead protagonist Insia played by Zaira Wasim being an aspiring singer. The young girl faces resistance from her father after which she opts to follow her dreams by posting videos on social media anonymously.

The trailer of the film hits the chord with every creative mind and has received a great response raising the anticipation for the film. The songs 'Main Kaun Hoon' and 'Meri Pyaari Mummy' provide further insights into the life of Insia.

'Secret Superstar' is Aamir Khan Productions' eighth film after delivering blockbuster films like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Dangal among others.

Tribal people part of Amit Masurkar’s Newton

After receiving a warm response at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival the trailer of Amit V Masurkar’s highly anticipated Newton has garnered an overwhelming response from viewers and incited intrigue amongst them. The Rajkummar Rao-starrer is about a rookie government clerk, determined to conduct fair elections in  conflict-ridden jungles of Chhattisgarh against formidable odds.

The dark comedy was shot extensively in forest areas frequented by Maoists. Resolved to conserve the ambience and showcase the untamed flavor of jungles, tribal people of the jungles were auditioned and cast in the film. Amit informs, “We shot in Dalli Rajhara. My casting director and I cast locals from villages near the Naxalite-controlled jungles. We cast 100-plus people from over ten villages.”

Talking about his thoughts on shooting in Naxalite-controlled zone, the director says, “Initially, the idea was scary. But once we went for a reccee, we realized people don’t care for Bollywood much. We told everyone how we are making a movie about elections and it has nothing to do with Maoism. As long as you aren’t making anyone suspicious, you are safe.”

Dandiya Queen Falguni Pathak is again in action and will make audience crazy with her Dandiya and Garba tracks

This year Navratri festival will be more interesting and will be the first religious and social programme post demonetisation and GST that will bring lakhs of people together.

Falguni Pathak will be performing live for 10 consecutive days for 'Ruparel Navratri Utsav 2017' and festival will run from 21st September to 30^th  September, 2017 at Late Shri Pramod Mahajan Sports Complex, Vasant Complex of Borivli (West) which has 13 acres of area and expecting footfall around 30,000 to 35,000 per day. Falguni will be performing Navratri for the 2^nd year in Borivli, consecutively.
