Prateik Babbar’s play ‘Six’ enthralls theatre lovers

Prateik Babbar’s new play, Six at The Jeff Goldberg Studio (Mumbai), held the theatre-lovers spellbound. The versatile actor, who plays a gay character for the first time, has been well appreciated by people.

Written and directed by Jeff Goldberg with assistant director Vishal Handa, Six, based on A Midnight Clear by LB Hamilton, revolves around two former lovers, who have not seen each other in a year are thrust together once again after one is brutally attacked and raped.

In the course of an evening they rediscover their profound love for one another and why they tragically can never be together.

Interestingly, the play which was showcased thrice a week in Mumbai, was appreciated so much by the people that after it was over, the viewers demanded to show it again. 

Considering the overwhelming response, the play Six would be shown again the second week of September at NCPA in Mumbai.

Priyanka Chopra’s Punjabi film Sarvann’s second schedule begins

With the vision to create a platform for great stories, irrespective of their genre and language, Priyanka Chopra and her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures’ proudly announced their debut Punjabi film, ‘Sarvann’ which began this year.

Produced by Madhu Chopra , Co-Produced by Siddharth Chopra and directed by Karaan Guliani, Sarvann is a coming-of-age story of a young boy, who unknowingly discovers his true identity.

The movie stars Amrinder Gill, Simi Chehail  and Ranjit Bawa and written by Amberdeep Singh and Music by Jatinder Shah.

Madhu Chopra says, "Sarvann is a beautiful and heart-touching narrative of a young NRI returning to India to find his roots. What better than starting the second schedule of Sarvann on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi!"

Ajivasan Fest 2016 was grand musical celebration

Ajivasan Music Academy organised its annual musical extravaganza "Ajivasan Fest 2016" on Saturday in Mumbai. Top 30 students from different branches of Suresh Wadkar's music academy came together for a musical evening of super hit Bollywood songs.

This was the third edition of the grand festival. Joining the students were esteemed guests including Nitin Mukesh, Javed Ali, Suresh Wadkar, Kavita Seth, Sadhna Sargam, Shailendra Singh, Ashok Patki, Anup Jalota and others.

Ajivasan, earlier known as Vasant Sangeet Vidyalay was founded in 1932 in Srinagar by Acharya Jialal Vasant under the patronage of Smt. Rameshwari Nehru. With about twenty-five students under his tutelage, Guruji started out on the musical journey of Sangeet Sandhana. The Institute had repute for providing scientific training in Hindustani Classical Music, and the students had the opportunity to perform with the master himself on several occasions.

After his demise, his daughter Prem Vasant, along with his disciple Suresh Wadkar, decided to fulfill Guruji’s dream of establishing a Gurukul, a place where the music aspirants get the benefit of residing and learning music. Thus, was born Suresh Wadkar’s Ajivasan Music Academy (the term Ajivasan was coined from ACHARYA JIALAL VASANT SANGEET NIKETAN in fond memory of Guruji).

Beside the main academy in Juhu, the institute today has 06 branches in Mumbai and one in Dubai. The Mumbai branches include Thane, Kandivali, Prabhadevi, Kemps Corner, Powai and Bandra. Over 400 students are provided training in Hindustani& Western Classical Vocals, Instrumental as well as in popular classical dance forms like Kathak and Bharatnatyam under the guidance of experienced teachers.

Radio City declars Super Singer for season 8

 Radio City Super Singer, Season 8, India’s biggest singing talent hunt reached its crescendo with a grand finale culminated in Mumbai on 4^th September 2016. Vivek Oberoi celebrated his birthday with CPAA kids

It was a day of indulgence for kids with cancer when CPAA and Carnival Cinemas organized special activities at Carnival Cinemas, IMAX Wadala in Mumbai. Carnival hosted a special screening of A Flying Jatt for over 350 kids and their companions.

Even actor Vivek Oberoi, who has been associated with CPAA for more than a decade now, joined in the revelry as he celebrated his birthday with the kids. To make this occasion more memorable, the A Flying Jatt actress Jacqueline Fernandez too spent quality time with the kids.

It therefore pains me to see that people like Kamaal R Khan are holding the film industry to ransom by spreading negativity about films to extort money from producers.

It is very sad that people from our own industry are supporting such elements and spoiling the ethos of the film industry.

I would strongly demand that this be thoroughly investigated by competent authorities to clarify if Karan Johar was indeed involved in this."

माझ्या स्वप्नाचा राजकुमार फिल्मी नसणार - सोनाक्षी सिन्हा

रोमॅन्टीक इमेजमध्ये सार्वत्रीकरीत्या दिसलेली सोनाक्षी, पहिल्यांदा ऍक्शनपटात दिसणार आहे. अकीरा या तिच्या आगामी चित्रपटासाठी तिने खुप मेहनत घेतल्याचे ती सांगते. यासह तिच्या “लग्नाची उडालेली बातमी” याबददल  जाणुन घेण्याचा प्रयत्न या मुलाखतीद्वारे केला आहे.....

पहिल्यांदाच तु इतक्या मोठयाप्रमाणात ऍक्शन करीत आहेस. तर तु रोमॅटिक आणि ऍक्शन भुमिकेपैकी कश्यामध्ये अधिक रमतेस ?

ऍक्शन करणे खुप कठीण आहे, मग तो हिरो असो कि हिरोईन. कारण त्यासाठी खुप महेनत, तयारी करावी लागते. पेपरवर जेव्हा आपण ऐखादे दृष्य वाचतो तेव्हा ते फार सोपे वाटते. मात्र प्रत्यक्षात साकारताना खुप मेहनत करावी लागते. अकीरा या चित्रपटाच्या चित्रीकरणपुर्व मला मार्शल आर्टचे प्रशिक्षण घ्यावे लागले होते. आणि चित्रीकरणादरम्यान देखिल मी खुप ट्रेनिंग घेतले. जेव्हा मला त्या चित्रपटासाठी विचारले गेले तेव्हा मला खुप आनंद झाला होता. मुरगादोस हे असे दिग्दर्शक आहेत, ज्यांनी देशातील अनेक ऍक्शन हिरोबरोबर काम केलं आहे. आणि त्यांचे अऩेक चित्रपट हिट ठरले आहेत. पहिल्यांदा ते वुमन सेंन्ट्रीक चित्रपट तयार करीत आहेत. त्यासाठी ते ऐका अभिनेत्रीकडुन ऍक्शन करवुन घेत आहेत. मी तश्याप्रकारची ऍक्शन करु शकते याची त्यांना खात्री पटली याचाच मला अभिमान वाटतो.      

या चित्रपटाने तुझी इमेज बदलेल काय ?

मला वाटतं, ट्रेलर पाहिल्यावर लोकांना तरी तसे वाटले. अनेकांनी ट्रेलर पाहुनच माझी स्तुती केली आहे. चित्रपट पाहुन प्रत्येक जण काहीना काही संदेश या चित्रपटाद्वारे घेईल असे मला वाटते. कारण मनोरंजनापुरता मर्यादीत राहणारा हा चित्रपट नाही. दिग्दर्शक मुरगादोसची एक खासीयत आहे की, ते आपल्या प्रत्येक चित्रपटाद्वारे काही ना काही संदेश देत राहतात. वाईट परिस्थीतीतही एक मुलगी कश्य़ाप्रकारे सगळ्यांना मागे सोडुन पुढे वाटचाल करीत राहते ते येथे पहायला मिळते. मला वाटतं याद्वारे प्रत्येक मुलगी स्वताच्या पायावर उभी रहायला शिकेल.

अजुनही आपल्याकडे स्त्री भ्रुण हत्या केली जाते. काही ठिकाणी अजुन देखिल मुलींनी स्वताच्या पायावर उभे राहणे दुरापास्त दिसुन येत आहे त्याबददल काय सांगशिल ? 

स्त्री भ्रुण हत्येबद्दल वाचुन मला खुप दुख होतं. ते चित्र बदलायचे असेल तर मानसिकता बदलायला हवी. हल्ली प्रत्येक क्षेत्रात मुली खुप चांगलं काम करीत आहेत. मिडीया पण अश्या पॉझेटिव्ह घटनांना ठळकरीत्या दाखवत आहे. आणि समाजासाठी ती एक खुप मोठी बाब आहे. मुली कुटुंबासाठी ओझं नसतात ते लोकांना कळलं पाहिजे, त्यांचा जन्म चांगली गोष्ट आहे, ते लोकांच्या मनावर बिंबवलं पाहिजे. मागिल अऩेक वर्ष लोकांची मानसिकता बदलण्याचा प्रयत्न सुरु आहे. मला वाटतं जे भ्रृण हत्या करतात त्यांना जबरी शिक्षा दिली गेली पाहिजे. 

मुलींना घेऊन चित्रपटसृष्टीची विचारसरणी देखिल बदलत आहे काय ?

सगळ्याच क्षेत्रात मुलींबद्दलची विचारसरणी बदलत आहे, मी समाधानी आहे त्याबद्दल. ऑलम्पिकमध्ये पण मुली मॅडल जिंकुन येत आहेत. आजच्या पुरुषी वर्चस्व असलेल्या समाजात स्त्रीया प्रामुख्याने वेगवेगळ्या कर्तुत्वाने समोर येत आहेत. चित्रपटसृष्टीचं म्हणाल तर आता आपल्याकडे महिलाप्रमुख भुमिका लिहील्या जात आहेत, ज्यामध्ये त्यांना आपली सशक्तता प्रामुख्याने दाखवली जात आहे. आणि सगळ्यात महत्वाचे म्हणजे, प्रेक्षक देखिल अश्या वेगळ्या भुमिकांना पहायला जातो.

आतापर्यत तुझा प्रवास कसा राहीला ?

खुपच चांगला, बरच काही शिकता आले मला या दरम्यान. मी अभिनयाचे प्रशिक्षण घेतलेले नाही, त्यामुळे मी जे काही शिकले आहे ते चित्रपटाद्वारेच, ऑन फिल्ड काम करुन. मी चांगले आणि वाईट दोन्ही प्रकारचे चित्रपट केले आहेत. त्या दरम्यान मी अनेक कलाकार, दिग्दर्शकांबरोबर काम केलं आहे, आणि मला त्यांच्याकडुन बरच काही शिकायला मिळाले आहे. मला वाटतं माझा, शिकण्याचा प्रवास अजुन देखिल सुरु आहे.

तुझ्या लग्नाची बातमी येत होती. आणि म्हणुन तु म्हणे कमी चित्रपट स्विकारत आहेस. आता लग्नाचा विषय चाललाच आहे तर तुझ्या स्वप्नाचा राजकुमार कसा असणार आहे ?

माझ्या स्वप्नाचा राजकुमार हा अजिबात फिल्मी नसणार. त्याचा सेन्स ऑफ हुयमर खुप चांगला असावा, जो मला हसवु शकेल. माझ्या पर्सनॅलिटीला मॅच करणारा आसावा. माझ्या लग्नाच्या बातमीचे म्हणाल, तर मी वर्तमानपत्र वाचत नाही. त्यामुळे माझ्याबद्दल काय छापुन आले आहे त्याचा मला फरक पडत नाही. कोणी काहीही म्हणालं तर मी ऐका कानाने ऐकते आणि दुसरया कानाने काढुन टाकते. त्यामुळे अफवांवर मी लक्ष देत नाही. मला वाटतं माझ्या लग्नाची जी बातमी आली होती, त्यावर लोकांनी विचारपुर्वक लेखन कारायला पाहिजे. आता तर सोशल मिडीया इतका मोठा झाला आहे की, ऐका टि्व्टने आम्ही खुलासा प्रसारीत करतो. पत्रकारांना हे समजायला पाहिजे की, अश्या प्रकारच्या बातम्यांनी आमच्या कुटुंबीयांवर काय फरक पडतो ते. त्यामुळे अश्या बातम्या त्यांनी विचारपुर्वक दयाव्यात

शिक्षक दिवस येत आहे. तुझ्या शिक्षकांची ऐखादी आठवण सांगशिल काय ?

माझ्या जिवनात असे अनेक शिक्षक होतेत ज्यांची मी जिवनभर आभारी राहीन. तर काही शिक्षक असे होतेत की ज्यांनी अगदी साधेपणे आणि इमानदारीने माझ्या मनात घर केलं आहे. माझ्या संस्कृत विषयाच्या शिक्षकाने माझी क़ॉपी करायची सवय सोडवुन टाकली. त्यांनी मला सगळ्यांसमोर लाजवले नाही, तर माझ्या आईला शाळेत बोलवुन तिच्यासमोर मला समजावले. त्यानंतर मी कधीच कॉपी केली नाही. आणि कोणाला माझ्या पेपरमधुन कॉपी करु दिली नाही. कॉलेजमध्ये असताना माझ्या चित्रकलेच्या शिक्षका होत्यात. त्यांच्या वर्गात फक्त मीच एक अशी मुलगी होती जिने कधीच अवांतर चित्रकलेचा क्लास केला नव्हता. तरी मी सुंदर चित्र काढायचे. मला त्यांची एक पध्दती आवडायची आणि ती म्हणजे, त्यांची विदयार्थाना सुट देणं, जेणेकरुन मुलच स्वताला डीसकव्हर करु शकतात.
